Bank Merchant Andy Dufresne is convicted of the murder of his wife and her lover, and sentenced to life imprisonment at Shawshank prison. Life seems to have taken a turn for the worse, but fortunately Andy befriends some of the other inmates, in particular a character known only as Red. Over time Andy finds ways to live out life with relative ease as one can in a prison, leaving a message for all that while the body may be locked away in a cell, the spirit can never be truly imprisoned
That part with the Friends theme was awesome, the most I've laughed in a long time. Watch free the shawshank redemption game. I remember my freshman year of college someone in my major told me I was his horse for the program, well, I graduate in May and he's long gone. I don't think I've ever watched this movie until recently, I've only ever heard of it from Family Guy making fun of it. This was probably my favorite scene where the Warden and that jailor get theirs. It's a really good movie, which any movie Morgan Freeman is in is usually good.

This scene is deeper than just surface entertainment. Morgan Freemans character illustrates how most people go through life conforming to socially accepted and directed standards until reaching the crossroads where you finally realize its your own acceptance that really matters. I definitely would love to see another Lords of the Ring movie or another Hobbit movie or something like that.
I still can't believe freeman didn't win oscar with this performance... When the officer first walks into the room and cuts his sentence short there isn't a poster on the wall. Subtle joke: A rock that has no earthly business being there. It's the only black rock among a group of gray rocks.
Captain Hadley got away with Manslaughter and felonious assault here and so many other crimes inside the Shawshank prison, he was the worst criminal there. I didnt understand them and they were so long I would fall asleep. After many years of believing they were terrible movies and having no desire to read the books I finally gave in and read them. Just finished today and loved them. Gave the movies another chance after probably 15 years and loved them too. They are different from the books in many ways, but very good. Glad I finally took a second look with an older eye.
